Nick Naccarato
Having trained and competed in Muay Thai in Thailand, Nick runs Steel City MMA's Wednesday night Muay Thai program.  
In addition to his Muay Thai experience, Nick also has an undefeated amateur MMA record and is 1-1 as a professional.






Mark Allard 
Mark is the highest ranking and most experienced Jiu Jitsu practitioner is Sault Ste. Marie. Mark began training Jiu Jitsu while he lived in Japan at the respected Axis jiu Jitsu Academy.  He trained there for nearly a decade with some of Japan's best coaches and competitors.  While in Japan he also achieved the rank of purple belt. Mark is still an active competitor, having won numerous high level tournaments in the last few years.  Mark is the the 2x defending Ontario Open Champion and defending NAGA Canadian National champion, as well as having several other regional championships to his name. Mark coaches both Adult and Youth Jiu Jitsu.



Mitch Fryia

Mitch is one of the most knowledgeable MMA coaches and athletes around.  having competed at a high level in multiple combat sports, trained with some of the best fighters in the world and travelled overseas to spend a year training with some of Asia's best fighters, Mitch is able to teach a variety of combat sports.  Having a psycholgy degree also gives Mitch excellent insight into the coaching game, especially when it comes to the mental side of training. Mitch coaches a variety of disciplines including MMA Jiu Jitsu and Kickboxing.  Some of Mitch's accomplishments include:
  • National and Provincial Wrestling champion at the University level
  • Undefeated amateur MMA record
  • 5-3 Professional MMA record
  • Winner and medallist at multiple Jiu Jitsu tournaments in North America and Korea



Patrick Kelly
Pat is one of the top boxers to come out of Sault Ste. Marie in the last decade.  Having competed around the country as a national level boxer, Pat gives our members a great foundation in the "sweet science". Pat brings his technical and fundamentally oriented coaching style to SCMMA as part of our boxing coaching staff.  Pat is also 1-1 in MMA competition.





Brent Fryia: Owner/Head Coach
Brent Fryia has competed in and coached a variety of combat sports at a high level. Having competed at the national, international and professional level gives Brent an excellent understanding of what it takes to achieve success in combat sports.  Brent's background as a highschool teacher also gives an advantage when it comes to effectively teaching classes.  Brent teaches Jiu Jitsu, MMA and Kickboxing. Some of Brent's accomplishments include:
  • Multiple time National medallist (Wrestling)
  • Ontario University Champion (Wrestling)
  • East Asian Sambo Champion
  • Silver Medal, Korean Jiu Jitsu Championships Advanced No Gi division.
  • Michigan Submission Only Champion, Advanced Division
  • 8-4 Professional MMA record


Willy (Jordan) Wardlaw
After a succesful amateur boxing career, Willy has crossed over into MMA, competing as a SCMMA athlete.  Willy also runs our boxing program at Steel City MMA






Spencer Pine
With a strong striking game, proven in competition, Spencer is one of our youth kickboxing coaches, as well as running Combat Conditioning classes. Spencer carries and undefeated amateur MMA record of 3-0




Jade Ayotte
Jade heads up our popular youth kickboxing program.  Her strong fundamentals, traditional martial arts background and kickboxing competition experience make her a great coach for our up and coming kickboxers.









Mike Mackinnon
Having been training for just ove a year, Mike has shown a tremendous aptitude for mat-mopping.  His skills have quickly surpassed many of his more experienced teammates.
